Kristina Clark Architect AIA is a small architectural firm with a primary focus on custom residential design - both new and remodel / renovation projects. In addition, the firm designs multi-family residential and commercial projects, which are given the same level of attention to design detail as our custom homes. Prior to opening the Portland office in January 2004, Kristina Clark Architect AIA operated in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Notable projects include several dozen custom residences, three market rate and subsidized housing projects, a credit union, and an award-winning garden center. The firm is certified as a Woman-owned Business Enterprise (WBE) in the State of Oregon.
Kristina is a licensed architect in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho with twenty-eight years of experience. She has held the positions of designer, planner, and project manager, respectively in firms in Denver, Colorado; Tucson, Arizona; and Portland, Oregon. Kristina has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon and completed graduate studies in London with Pratt Institute of Design. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects and is NCARB certified.
Sustainable Design
Kristina has extensive experience in sustainable design beginning with her education in the late 1970's when the University of Oregon Architecture Department was in the forefront of passive solar energy research and its applicability to the northwest environment.
Her portfolio includes passive solar homes in Bellingham, Washington; Hauser Lake, Idaho; LaPine, Oregon; and Amity, Oregon. Recent projects incorporate photovoltaic panels, solar water heating, insulated concrete formed walls, and rainwater collection systems. Whether or not the owner chooses to aggressively pursue alternative energy systems, all of the firm's designs are sited to take advantage of solar orientation, natural ventilation, and daylighting.
